Another strong Silverstone drive sees Logan finish just outside of the points

On the day he took the 500th Grand Prix start by an American driver, Logan finished one place shy of picking up the United States' 1,000th Formula 1 point, finishing P11 at Silverstone.
In tricky, changeable conditions, Sarge kept his head throughout and made good calls on when to switch from slicks to intermediates.
It was a clean getaway but he dropped positions on the opening tour.
He was bunched up behind his teammate in P13, matching Alex's lap times as everyone kept their eyes on the clouds for the inevitable rain to arrive.
Around Lap 17, Logan reported that the rain was here, but that it was not yet sufficient enough for a tire change.
Some opted to switch around Lap 20, seeing Logan climb up to P12. He remained on what proved to be the right tire and kept it on the road in uniquely British conditions.
The rain eased for a time, and it was in this period that Kevin Magnussen pipped our American at Stowe.
Come Lap 27, the rain had returned and this time it was heavier, prompting the Williams pit crew into action and making a double-stack.
Returning to the circuit on inters in P13, Logan was told by Gaetan Jego to expect 20 minutes at this intensity.
Sarge gained a spot on Lap 34 when George Russell was forced into retirement, just as the rain began to ease and the sun emerged again.
Logan shared with the team that it was going to dry quickly, a correct call. On Lap 38 he was in for another double-stack with Alex, returning in P12 but with Magnussen in his sights.
With the soft tire fitted, Sarge was set for a charge to the finish and after a few attempts, he sent it on the Haas racer at Stow. A nice move that put him on the fringes of the points.
However, it was a gap of 9.5s to P10, and the laps ran out. Still, it was a strong drive from Logan to secure his best result of the year so far.
"It was a good day in general," Sarge said post race. "From FP2 where we struggled in high fuel, we put the car in a much better place, and it showed.
"We had good pace particularly on the slick tyre. I struggled a little on the drying track with the Inters by degrading the tyres a little bit too much.
"We executed everything relatively well and kept it together in tricky conditions. We got quite unfortunate with the stacked stop for the Inters with Alex having a slow stop ahead which cost us time.
"Of course, in hindsight there were maybe a couple of decisions we could’ve done a lap or two earlier which ultimately could’ve been the difference between a point or not.
"Overall, I’m happy with the way I drove this weekend."
