A difficult start set up a tricky afternoon at the Hungaroring

In the baking heat of the Hungarian sun, Logan is reflecting on a tricky afternoon in Budapest.
Starting from P14 on the grid with medium tyres fitted, Logan dropped back to P19 on the opening tour.
He didn’t let this get to him, immediately fighting back by passing Zhou at Turn 7 and Perez at T1 on the second lap.
As the opening pit stops shuffled the order, Logan made it as high as P11 before he made his first stop, putting fresh hard tires on his FW46.
He was in P19 but again filtered back through as differing strategies met in the middle. He’d stop again on Lap 33 for more new hard tires, and set about hassling Ocon.
Logan makes his first stop of the race...
Into the second half of the race, Sarge was getting pretty familiar with the rear wing of the Alpine ahead, sticking with the Frenchman throughout despite serving regular blue flags.
In the final laps, Logan reported his tires had no more life left him and he stopped for a new set of softs.
One lap later, Ocon stopped but Sarge emerged ahead of him. He would pass Zhou soon after to return to the P17 he had occupied before the stop.
"Today was okay," Logan commented. "I was disappointed with my start and, around here, it’s an uphill battle from there.
"From a pace perspective, it was a good day and overall, apart from my start, I’m happy with my weekend.
"The car felt better here than last year, which is a positive, but it was a difficult race.
"I did my best to come back through as best I could and we tried to be aggressive with stops, but it didn’t really work out and we found ourselves in dirty air, increasing degradation.
"We’ll keep going and try harder to pull it together in Spa."
