Want to know more about Logan’s racing career and rise to Formula 1? Then you’re in the right place…
Logan was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida — and he’s not the first of his family to get behind the wheel.
His older brother, Dalton Sargeant, also drove professionally as a stock car racer in the USA, achieving a host of top ten finishes in NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series.
Much like his brother, Logan began his career in karting, where domestic success saw him move to Europe and become the first American to win an FIA Karting World Championship title since 1978.
That CIK-FIA World KFJ Championship in 2015 was swiftly followed by a WSK Champions Cup triumph the following year, before Logan made the step up to Formula 4 in 2016/17.
It was a smooth progression — achieving 15 podium finishes from 18 races with Team Motopark, then registering wins at Rockingham and Silverstone after switching to Carlin.
Another move, this time to R-ace GP and the Formula Renault Eurocup, yielded a fourth-place finish in the 2018 championship, following victories at the Circuit Paul Ricard, Nürburgring and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
That success led to Logan making the step up to Formula 3 — first with Carlin in 2019, then with Prema Racing the following year, when he secured a third-place finish after leading the standings for a portion of the campaign.
A further season in Formula 3 with Charouz Racing System followed, before Logan finally progressed to Formula 2 with the support of Williams Racing.
Once again, he linked up with Carlin for the 2022 Formula 2 Championship, resulting in two race victories and four podium finishes, as he placed fourth in the Drivers' Championship.
Highlights included a first win of the year at Silverstone, followed immediately by another triumph at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Having joined the Williams Driver Academy, Logan’s trajectory was almost complete — and he finally achieved the dream of racing in Formula 1 in 2023, after previously driving in a handful of practice sessions.
Logan kicked off his debut season at Bahrain International Circuit, before returning to his homeland for the Miami Grand Prix — a first race back in the United States since his karting days.
He then reached Q2 in Azerbaijan, Q3 at the Dutch Grand Prix and — appropriately — secured his first point at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
Another home-race achievement was to follow, too, with a best-ever sixth-place qualifying position in Las Vegas.
Now in the midst of his second year with the team, Logan will be looking to continue his development with Williams in 2024.
